Mom Hacks for the Bathroom Toys

Bathroom toy storage

I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets annoyed when the bathtub toys don’t get put away and instead sit in the bottom of the tub and grow gross things. So here’s an easy solution! Create a storage solution for shower toys using command hooks and dollar store bins! Figure out where you want to hang the shower toy storage bins, apply the command hooks to the shower wall or the side of the bathtub, then take the small plastic bins and hook them onto the command hooks. Then after the bath is done, shake off the excess water and put them in the bins to allow the toys to dry without growing mold or mildew. It’s a super affordable mom hack while minimizing clutter in the bathroom!

Hot glue the holes

Speaking of bath toys- another great mom hack is to hot glue the holes on bath toys to keep the inside of the toys clean! No need to worry about having to try and clean the inside of the bath toys because now no water can get in them to mildew or mold.

Mom Hacks for Cleaning Up the Toys

Clean up toys with a dustpan

Streamline the tidying process by using a clean dustpan to clean up Legos and small toys. This is also great because once they are old enough to hold the dustpan, kids can start helping. You can also use a rake or broom for bigger messes/toys!

Cleaning up toys with a sheet or blanket

Before the kids start playing with a set of toys that tends to spread out, try putting down a sheet or blanket as a play area! Then when playtime is over, gather the corners of the sheet or blanket so that all the toys fall to the middle. Then just dump them back into their container!

Mom Hacks for Getting the Toys Clean

Using mesh bag or pillow case for washing toys in the washing machine

One mom hack for getting small items clean is to wash them in a bag inside the washing machine. Get a mesh laundry bag or a pillowcase with a tight weave so the toys can’t get out. Make sure the bag is large enough to accommodate the toys while still leaving enough room for them to move around and get cleaned properly. This is a great way to wash the bath toys, too!

Wash toys in the dishwasher

The mom hack of washing toys in the dishwasher is a quick and efficient way to get kids’ toys clean, and can really come in handy if there’s been a sickness in the house and the toys really need a thorough cleaning. You can usually put plastic toys, bath toys, and even some non-electronic toys on the top rack of the dishwasher- just make sure they will be okay in hot water. The hot water and detergent effectively remove dirt, germs, and grime, leaving the toys ready for safe play!
